A Guildford borough councillor has been charged with pretending to be a barrister under the Legal Services Act and six other offences.
Surrey Police said Monika Juneja was also accused of two fraud offences and three under the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act.
The 35-year-old Guildford woman is also charged with obtaining pecuniary advantage under the Theft Act.
She is due to appear before magistrates in Guildford on 2 September.
Ms Juneja, who is on bail, is Guildford’s councillor in charge of planning.
The council has not yet commented.
