RESIDENTS who fear someone could be seriously injured or killed on a busy road have called for traffic calming measures to be introduced as soon as possible

The petition, which can be viewed on Surrey County Council’s website, calls for measures to be put in place in Little Bookham Street to deter speeding drivers.

Created by resident Christopher Thomas, it says it could only be a matter of time before a child is killed on the road as many children use the road as part of their journey to school.

Introducing the petition on the site, Mr Thomas said: “Many children use Little Bookham Street as part of their journey to school and many families live on Little Bookham Street.

However, the street is also extensively used by commuters, lorries and buses. Speeding is all to common. Despite this, Little Bookham Street does not currently have any traffic calming features.

“We fear it is only a matter of time before a child is seriously injured or killed.”

As the Advertiser went to press, 43 people had signed the petition. Add your signature at petitions.surreycc.gov.uk
