VISION: How the development in Randalls Road could look
PLANS to build 80 homes and a 64-bed care home in fields near the centre of Leatherhead have been revealed at a public exhibition.
Beechcroft Developers wants to build on three hectares between Randalls Road and Cleeve Road. Outline permission to develop the site was granted by Mole Valley District Council in 2012.
The proposal is set to be made up of 27 family houses, 18 affordable units and 35 assisted living units along with the care home. It would follow the demolition of an existing house on the site used for affordable housing units.
Fran Smith, chairman of the planning subcommittee of the Leatherhead Residents’ Association, said: “The plans presented by Beechcroft are very different from those submitted for outline planning consent for 70 homes.
“In some respects, these new plans might have a lower impact on the area, as there will be fewer people needing to drive to work or to schools during the peak traffic times on the very congested roads in this area as half the homes are designated assisted living.
“A major concern is that sufficient parking is provided within the new development as there is a severe shortage of parking in the immediate area already.
