The Orestan Lane charity’s founder and chairman, Sue Sheward, said: “The invitation to present at the House of Commons gives us the opportunity of reaching community representatives and decision-makers in the businesssector.
“Companies will have the opportunity to show their commitment to corporate social responsibility, which demonstrates how much they care and also has the benefit of tax incentives.
“As the principal seed-dispersers in the valuable rainforests of Borneo, and key players in the regeneration of the rainforest, it is essential that we do everything we can to ensure the survival of our closest cousins.”
The charity needs to raise £250,000 to continue its work rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing orphaned and disabled orangutans into reserves.
The launch event, which is being hosted by North Herefordshire MP Billy Wiggin, will feature a presentation by OAUK primatologist James Robins and an exclusive preview of Meet The Orangutans, a new eight-part television documentary series focusing on OAUK’s work, which will be aired on the Discovery channel later this year.
