At the Parish Council meeting last night (26 Nov. 2019), Effingham Councillors agreed to ask Guildford Borough Council (GBC) to designate Effingham Common as a Local Nature Reserve (LNR).
This is good news as it will oblige GBC to manage the part of the Common that they own, for nature. It will also mean that any development around the Common will need to take into account the impact of nature on the Common.
Great news! I hope that with sympathetic management the common will be an asset both to the local residents and the wider community.
