CPRE were pleased to announce that: After threatening to release even more Green Belt land for housing in the Budget, Philip Hammond has completely backed down, saying the Government will continue their ‘strong protection of our Green Belt’.

However, whilst there was some good news in the budget, the Government is not doing enough to protect England’s landscape, with almost 15,500 houses approved in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the past five years despite their ‘protected’ status. CPRE’s full statement is available here
