Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) has started work on its next Local Plan, ‘Future Mole Valley‘. The project will set out plans for land use in the District for the next 15 years; it will include targets for delivering new development as well as setting out those areas which will continue to be protected.
Bookham Residents Association and I Live in Bookham have produced a summary affecting Bookham at www.yourbookham.com. This distils the greater than 200 pages of the main plan and many appendices into more readable chunks. It contains some preliminary ‘expert views’ on the issues arising; further information will be added as and when available.
Bookham Residents Association will hold a public meeting on Wednesday 11 March at 7:30pm – Report Back Old Barn Hall.
The main developments proposed that effect Effingham residents are:
- 250 houses + 2 traveller pitches on Green Belt land at Preston Farm off Lower Road between Little Bookham Stree and Water Lane.
- 11 houses on Green Belt land at Chalkpit Lane, off the A246, impacting on Effinghams Wildlife Corridor
- 164 houses + 2 traveller pitcheson Green Belt land at Bookham Fields, off Lower Road, between Recory Lane and The Lorne
The 800+ new houses proposed for Bookham, will have an impact on
- Building on the Green Belt
- Wildlife Corridors
- Merging of Effingham, Little Bookham and Great Bookham
- Shortage of school places
- Extra traffic on Lower Road
- Surface Water and foul sewers
- Healthcare provision
