A packed service at St Lawrence Church was held today to commemorate the centenary of the end of World War 1. It started at the War Memorial itself where the two minutes’ silence was held. It ended in the packed church with many standing for a moving service with Reverend Mandy telling the story of one Effingham man, Bob Whittington, who was killed in the War and with readings and prayers from guides and scouts.
