The Rose Theatre has broken its Christmas show ticket sales record with its latest production The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

The show, which opens tonight, December 4, has so far sold 25,000 tickets, making it the best-selling Christmas play in the theatre’s history, and the highest-grossing production the theatre has put on since 2010’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream starring Judi Dench.

The adaptation of the CS Lewis classic is directed by Ciaran McConville and stars 67 young actors from the Rose Youth Theatre, including twelve actors who rotate as the Pevensie children, the story’s lead characters.

Rose Theatre chief executive Robert O’Dowd said: “Building on the successes of last year’s Christmas show and this year’s award-winning productions, this spectacular adaptation of CS Lewis’ classic tale is going to be a fantastic Christmas treat for all the family.

“If you haven’t booked your tickets already make sure you book now as they are selling fast.”

The production runs until January 4 and tickets start from £10 and can be purchased from the Rose Theatre Box Office on 020 8174 0090
