A COOKERY school in Effingham helped children get into the festive spirit.

Be in the Kitchen held the class at its Vineries House school in Lower Road.

Children were helped to make puff pastry sausage-tree rolls, filo baskets with smoked salmon and sweet and savoury buns, washed down with fresh fruit slushies.

Parents were given homemade mince pies and mulled wine and were able to sample sweet treats such as sparkling meringue snowflakes and gingerbread Christmas trees.

The event on December 22 was run by Leatherhead and District Business Person of the Year Be Kassapian.
