A MOCK election was held at Manor House School in Bookham in the run-up to last Thursday’s real thing
The political storm played out at the school in the week before the country went to the polls in the General Election.
School spokeswoman Mary Fowell said: “As a girls’ school, we are hugely appreciative of the suffragette movement and women’s eligibility to vote.
“Three of our Year 10 senior girls stood as candidates to represent the three major parties [Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrats]
“Each candidate took it in turns to stand up and present to the packed assembly room and discussed their party’s policies. The girls were excellent and displayed some fantastic persuasion and reasoning skills.
“Each party representative was supported by a deputy candidate, who presented the key policies after the main presentation.”
The Conservatives were victorious in the vote, with 97 per cent of Year 6 to 11 students taking part.
