Effingham residents and local VIPs welcome Mandy MacVean as our new Rector and gives a warm welcome to her family

On the evening of Wednesday 16th March the Reverend Amanda (Mandy) MacVean was instituted and inducted as the new rector of St Lawrence, Effingham and All Saints, Little Bookham. St Lawrence was packed full for the service with many of Mandy’s friends and family and former parishioners attending as well as local VIPs and clergy. More than forty ex parishioners arrived in a coach from Banstead where Mandy had served as a very popular curate. The service was led by the Bishop of Guildford and the Archdeacon of Dorking. Among the local VIPs attending who took part in the service to welcome Mandy were Cllr Paul Spooner, the leader of Guildford Borough Council and Cllr Margaret Cooksey, the Chairman of Mole Valley District Council. A reception was held afterwards in St Lawrence Church Hall.
Mandy was born in London and spent some childhood years in Malta before settling in Surrey. She is a former teacher and lodged in Effingham early in her career. Mandy is a keen walker and enjoys local history, antiques and gardening. She is married to Paddy (both pictured above) and they have a son and two daughters in their 20s: Alex, Charlotte and Francesca.
EFFRA welcomes Mandy and her family to Effingham and is sure that she will be a popular and successful rector.
