THE new headteacher at Manor House School in Bookham is moving into the private sector from Epsom’s Blenheim High School

  • NEW FACE: Tracey Fantham is taking over at Manor House

Tracey Fantham will start at the Mole Valley independent school for girls on September 1.

Ms Fantham said she is “delighted” to be taking the helm at the Manor House Lane establishment.

She said: “As a head, it is important to have a real belief in the ethos of the school you are leading and I believe that pupils succeed in an environment that values them as individuals, where they are thoroughly happy and where they achieve more than they thought possible.

“I believe that Manor House is such a school and I look forward to working with the students, parents and staff to build further on the school’s success.”

The school’s current head, Zara Axton, has announced she is leaving to pursue a new venture outside education after eight years in the role..

Miss Axton took over the job in 2008 from previous head Alison Morris, who also held the post for eight years.

Before her time in Bookham, Miss Axton was deputy head at Kent College Pembury, in Tunbridge Wells.

Manor House’s chair of governors Paul Barlow said: “While the statutory requirements and operating contexts of a state school differ from those of a private school, academies such as Blenheim High School are state-funded independent schools with considerable autonomy.

“Ms Fantham will be bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to help us to take Manor House School to the next stage in its development.”

Manor House School is holding open mornings on February 9, April 26 and October 1. Families are welcome.
