Make your home more energy efficient with a £15,000 grant

Residents can save money on their energy bills with a new ‘Green Jump Surrey’ grant of up to £15,000.
The Green Homes Grant, provided by central government and Surrey County Council, helps eligible owner-occupied households to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

Lead Councillor for Climate Change, Cllr Jan Harwood says:
As a council, we recognise the importance of cutting carbon emissions from all buildings, which makes this funding so important. We have invested about £10 million on carbon-reduction projects on our own estate and in our social housing in the past decade. Now, with this funding, residents have a great opportunity to make their own energy efficiencies and reduce carbon emissions.

Everyone has a responsibility to act on climate change and improving our home’s energy performance represents a major step towards reducing our collective carbon footprint. It’s not only good for the environment, but it will also make a real difference to people’s comfort, health and finances. However, the funding is only available for a limited time and on a first-come, first-served basis, so I would encourage everyone to check if they are eligible as soon as they can.”

Work which can be funded by a Green Jump Surrey grant includes loft, solid wall, cavity wall, underfloor and park home insulation, draught proofing, LED lighting, air source heat pumps and solar hot water systems. Boiler replacements, double glazing, external doors or solar panels cannot be funded.
The scheme is being run by Action Surrey on behalf of local authorities.

Funding is available to those living in a hard-to-heat home and who are either in receipt of a means-tested benefit or have a total household annual income of less than £30,000. Assessments for the first phase of installations will be completed by the end of February, so to find out if you are eligible for a grant, call 0800 783 2503 or visit www.actionsurrey.org/improve/green-jump-surrey.
Private and social housing landlords can also receive up to £5,000 to cover two-thirds of the cost of installing solid wall insulation.

More than £6.2 million has been made available for Surrey residents as part of the central government scheme, to provide grants for improving home energy efficiency, cut heating costs and help the environment. Up to 600 homes across Surrey, including Guildford, can benefit.

Surrey County Council is also contributing £750,000 to the ‘Green Jump Surrey’ project as top-up funding to cover the cost of works up to £15,000.

Action Surrey helps residents, community groups and business within Surrey to save money on their energy bills, keep warm and reduce their environmental impact. It has a network of trusted installers who will complete the work on behalf of local authorities.
