Prudential RideLondon raises record-breaking £12million for charity

By RICHARD WALSH

Riders who took part in last year’s RideLondon-Surrey mass participation event raised more than £12million for charity.

The 100-mile ride was completed by 25,500 cyclists who between them raised £2million more for good causes than in 2014.

It means that more than £29million has been raised for charity since the festival of cycling began in 2013.

Richard Walsh, Surrey County Council’s Cabinet Member for Localities and Community Wellbeing, said: ‘This is wonderful news for good causes in Surrey and the rest of the country.

‘More than 25,000 riders turned out for the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey last summer and made the event not only a celebration of pedal power but a record-breaking year for good causes. We are looking forward to welcoming the event to the county again this summer.’
