Talk – The Howard Family on 3 December

Effingham’s local historian, Vivien White, will be giving a talk on The Howard Family, and its connections with Little Bookham, Great Bookham and Effingham, on Friday 3 December at 7:15pm at Manor House School. The manor of Effingham was held by the Howard family for nearly a hundred years from 1550 to 1647 and that William Howard, who was given the manor by King Edward VI was also granted the baronry of Effingham by Queen Mary. He passed both on to his son Charles, who was Lord Admiral at the time of the Armada. Further details on the Howards of Effingham are available here
