Coronavirus (COVID-19) advice

Guildord Borough Council (GBC) has issued advice regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19), which is available here

For information about the disease Coronavirus (COVID-19) and how to keep yourself safe is available on the NHS website here

If you need help, or would like to help in this emergency, GBC are suggesting you contact the VASWS Volunteer Centre on 01483 565456 or email volunteercentresws@vasws.org.uk.

They are a central hub and will coordinate your help with people who need it. Visit Voluntary Action South West Surrey for more information.

To keep yourself safe during this emergency, we recommend that:

  1. Use official advice from NHS and WHO on Coronavirus (COVID-19)
  2. Ignore advice from unqualified self-proclaimed experts. They know less than the professionals and can put you at greater risk.
  3. Don’t panic buy, as it puts the poor, vulnerable and elderley at greater risk. Being selfish, will mean you are put at greater risk, from others who have been unable to follow advice due to lack of supplies
  4. Don’t trust strangers, who want to take advantage of you in this emergency. There are a lot of well meaning volunteers wanting to help, but also a few nasty people hiding amongst them. So be careful who you allow to help you (see above for advice from GBC).
