Effingham parish councillor charged with multiple offences after alleged confrontation with travellers

A parish councillor has been charged with a number of offences after he allegedly confronted a group of travellers who set up camp on playing fields in Effingham .

Surrey Police was called to the King George V (KGV) playing fields, managed by the Effingham Village Recreation Trust (EVRT), at around 8.40am last Friday morning (August 25). James Nicholls was arrested on suspicion of various offences, including using his vehicle to obstruct access to the park where the travellers had been for two days.
