Effingham Roadworks Update

UK Power Networks are expecting to complete the work around in the mini-roundabouts in Effingham at the end of next week (Friday 2 September), which will enable the 4-way traffic lights to be removed. However, roadworks will continue along Orestan Lane. The work has taken longer than anticipated due to the amount of other underground services that they have had to be negotiated around the mini roundabout area necessitating digging by hand rather than by machinery.

The work by UK Power Networks has delayed the installation of the speed tables around St Lawrence School on Effingham Common Road and Lower Road, which were to have been installed during the summer school holidays. These speed tables are being installed as a result of the village’s petition to Surrey County Council in 2019 to improve the safety of the crossing to St Lawrence Primary School. Surrey County Council will be looking for an opportunity to install these whilst minimising disruption during the school terms.
