EFFRA Road Wardens will be delivering the Summer edition of the EFFRA Newsletter Summer 25 Issue 19 together with the Heritage Open Day 2025 leaflet in the next few days.
The Newsletter reports on the recent planning application submitted by Berkeley Homes for a replacement Howard School, Planning Application 25/P/01128. This is the third new school application submitted and is for a 1,600 pupil school at the same size as the current school whereas the previous applications were for a 2,000 pupil school. The number of new dwellings intended to fund the new school remains at 409. Anyone who wishes to comment on the planning application should submit them via the GBC website by 12th September.
The Newsletter also covers other local news and details of two charities and one industrial and provident society that help Effingham residents – the Henry Smith Charity, Effingham Housing Association and The Bookhams, Fetcham and Effingham Nursing Association Trust.
The Heritage Open Day leaflet provides information on the seven historic buildings in Effingham and Little Bookham that will be open on Saturday 13 September as part of the national Heritage Open Days event.
The local history exhibition being held this year in the impressive 15th century Manor Farm Tithe Barn is called: “History and Buildings of Little Bookham.” It will cover Little Bookham’s history, historic buildings and boundaries via illustrated displays and audio visual presentations. The other properties will also have illustrated displays about their history. Refreshments will be available in the Tithe Barn and Methodist Chapel.
Please note that opening times for the properties vary. For more information see information on the heritage open days website or the Heritage Open Day leaflet.
