Where to donate food, or obtain help with food deliveries

There are various places where you can donate food, or if you are suffering can obtain food during the lockdown. This is addition to the services already provided by the various supermarkets.

Community Coronavirus Care

They are a group of people from the surrounding community that would like to help and currently have volunteers in Bookham, Fetcham, Leatherhead and Ashtead.

Their phone lines 0800 3077 111 are open Friday morning, 9am – 1pm, with a team of friendly call handlers who can arrange for volunteers to deliver food shopping and complete other essential tasks or signpost you to other organisations who can best support you.

You can find more details about them on Facebook at @CommunityCoronavirusCare

Mid Surrey Community Fridges

The aim of the Fridge is to reduce food waste and to support local people. They can collect food from local businesses and make it available to the community. Take what you need, give what you can!

The Community Fridge is there for people and businesses in Mid Surrey to share perfectly good quality surplus food rather than throwing it away. The food in the fridge is free to anyone. It’s about making use of the good but unwanted food and fighting against waste!

You can find more details about them on Facebook at @midsurreycf

They deliver to Effingham and focus on those in need. Typically recipients are referred to them via schools, social workers, doctors, ministers of religion etc. That said we do respond when we learn of anyone struggling. Please let them know if you are aware of anyone needing our support. Contact is via The Meeting Place phone – tel no 07425 133431.

On Saturday mornings between 10 and 11.30am, anyone can turn up to The Bookham Youth Centre, 164 Lower Road, Great Bookham Surrey KT23 4AQ (opposite the Anchor pub) and pick up some free food. You don’t need a voucher, just turn up and they’ll give you the food.

Foodbank

Please do not go without enough food. Reverend Mandy is able to provide vouchers for the Leatherhead or Cobham Food Banks for anyone who is in need. Please see the poster below for further details.
