The Committee of the Leatherhead and District Countryside Protection Society have awarded Diane and Steve Poole the Frank Benger Trophy, for their contribution to countryside protection with the Blue Hearts work. The Blue Hearts scheme to leave suitable verges uncut to provide a vital refuge for many bees, butterflies, birds, bats and insects. Diane Poole is a Committee member of Effingham Residents Association, and helped set up the Blue Heart Scheme in Bookham.
The success of the Bookham Blue Heart scheme in Bookham encouraged Effingham Climate Change working group of Effingham Parish Council to formally adopted the Blue Heart Scheme. Further details are on the Effingham Climate Change website.
