Effingham Golf Club – Operation Pollinator Award Champions

Congratulations to Jon Budd and the team at Effingham Golf Club have won the prestigious Syngenta Operation Pollinator Award at this year’s Golf Environment Awards 2021. The award was held on-line on 16 December 2020.

The club worked with local wildlife groups to devise a bespoke seed mix for the area, to ensure the wildflowers sown would be in keeping with the site and would flower throughout the critical months for pollinators. They extended the chalk grassland across the golf course, so now it covers 21 hectares.

The award is sponsored by Syngenta, who is a leading agriculture company helping to improve global food security by enabling millions of farmers to make better use of available resources.

  1. We recently moved to the area and back on to Effingham Golf Course. We have also attempted to plant a wild flower meadow at the end of our garden near the course. Any tips from the club groundskeepers would be appreciated.
