EPC and EFFRA working together on the Howard of Effingham appeal

EFFRA LOGOBerkley Homes (Southern) Ltd and The Howard Partnership Trust are appealing APP/Y3615/W/16/3151098, the decision by Guildford Borough Council to reject the planning application 14/P/02109 for development on three sites at Effingham Lodge Farm, Howard of Effingham School and Browns Field, Browns Lane. The application proposed a total of 295 new homes together with a replacement building for the Howard School on Green Belt land at Effingham Lodge Farm.

Guildford Borough Council (GBC) has appointed a planning QC to defend the refusal at the Public Inquiry on the appeal.

Effingham Parish Council (EPC) has been granted ‘Rule 6 status’ for the Inquiry, meaning that they can provide witnesses in support of refusal and cross examine the appellants’ witnesses. EPC has appointed a planning barrister, Scott Stemp, as their advocate at the Inquiry.

Effingham Residents Association (EFFRA) is supporting EPC, and will help provide evidence to vigorously defend our village against this major and inappropriate development in the Green Belt.

Dates and duration of the Public Inquiry are yet to be agreed by all parties, but it is expected that the Inquiry will be held in GBC Council Chambers, Millimead, Guildford during March 2017.

Anyone who wishes to make any comments to the Planning Inspectorate about the appeal needs to do so by 27 July 2016. You can comment online here
