Heritage Open Day Saturday 9 Sept. 2023

Heritage Open Day in Effingham and Little Bookham will be held on Saturday 9 September. Seven historic buildings will be open, as well as an Barnes Wallis exhibition.

Because of the popularity of the previous exhibitions, EFFRA is putting on an exhibition at Manor Farm Tithe Barn about Sir Barnes Wallis to mark the 80th anniversary of the Dam Busters’ Raid. We expect this to be the last time we put on an exhibition about Sir Barnes for some years so if you are interested in our former illustrious resident please don’t miss it. Apart from displays, which will include some new ones for this year, we will be showing documentaries about him by special licence from the BBC. The new and improved edition of the popular, short book written in 2019 by local Effingham historian Vivien White about Sir Barnes Wallis which includes exclusive family photographs will be available to buy. The Friends of St Lawrence and All Saints Churches will be providing home-made cakes and refreshments to enjoy in the barn and pretty garden
