Early respondents to a “flash survey” were 80% dissatisfied with the Local Plan, according to an independent study carried out by former chairman of the Guildford Parish Forum, and green belt campaigner Fiona Curtis.
The council’s own consultations to date have produced levels of response and objection far higher than similar exercises in other nearby boroughs. But council leader Paul Spooner has consistently said that housing targets contained within a contentious Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) will need to be met to address the housing shortage.
