Bonfires are only permitted on the King George V Playing Fields (KGV) with the permission of the trustees. Yesterday (26 March 2018) ten residents, including a new EVRT trustee, a parish councillor and three EFFRA committee members, collected and burnt most of the piles of tree cuttings left by the travellers last year. (Some of the travellers were running a tree cutting business whilst illegally camping on the KGV and each day dumped van loads of cuttings along the western boundary and in the woods). There is a small amount left to clear and it is hoped to do that soon. Residents are asked to keep clear of the two bonfire sites until the ashes have cooled and can be dispersed.
