Church Street is planned to be closed on Monday 2 June from 8am to 5pm. Diversions will be place. This is to allow Surrey County Council to carry out some roadworks.
Effingham Common Road is planned to be closed from Monday 9 June to Friday 13 June between 9:30am to 3:30pm, from the junction to the train station car park and approximately 25m north of Orestan Lane. This implies that the road will be open for school and work traffic outside these hours. The road closure is to allow Surrey County Council to carry out Gripfibre works (resurfacing the road with for improved skid resistance).
It’s a shame they can’t do this in vacation time. So many young people use the station as well as everyone else, and it will make it harder for them to access it.
Is there any detail regarding walking to the station, or if it’s going to have a temporary light so that we can access it for the carpark? Otherwise, commuters will have a much longer journey once we find out where the diversion is going to be.
