Leatherhead Fire Brigade was called on Saturday to a fire started without permission in the KGV Playing Fields. The fire which had been started in a cleared area in the woodland was beginning to spread through the dry ground and was in danger of spreading into the woodland. The fire could easily have caused extensive damage to the woodland without the prompt action of the Fire Brigade. It is believed to have been started by secondary school age children using aerosols and lighters.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact admin@evrt.org.uk to assist ongoing enquiries. Parents are also asked to remind their children of the dangers and consequences of such activities.
