Sir Barnes Wallis page published

A brief history of Sir Barnes Wallis is available on the page effinghamresidents.org.uk/barnes-wallis page, which can also found under the “History” menu, which is under the “About Effingham” menu.

Sir Barnes Wallis was an Effingham resident, and considered Effingham “the best village in England”. The page is based on the research for the two exhibitions about him organised by EFFRA in 2019 and 2022 with the support of Sir Barnes’ family and the help of Brooklands Museum and the Barnes Wallis Foundation. The book about him written by Vivien White for the first exhibition is currently out of print. It covers his life and career but in particular focuses on his life in Effingham and contains many previously unpublished photographs, and it is hoped to produce a new edition of it in 2023 which will be the 80th anniversary of the Dam Busters’ raid.
