Successful Heritage Open Day in Effingham and Little Bookham

Heritage Open Day in Effingham & Little Bookham on Saturday was a great success. Nine venues opened (one of which The Grange is actually in Great Bookham but we adopted it for the day!) and all had large numbers of visitors – the highest being 300 at the Tithe Barn. The visitors particularly enjoyed the information available to read about the history of the different buildings and many of them walked the Effingham Heritage Trail and the Bishop’s Walk map in hand. A good number came from some distance away and were attracted by the opportunity to see so many historic buildings in close vicinity. I personally talked to one who had come from Dorset and who was very enthusiastic especially as he was enjoying home made cake at the time! We were lucky to have such good weather.

We would like to thank all the residents who gave their time to make the day such a success and the owners of the venues for opening them. But as can be seen from the photos the volunteers enjoyed the day as much as the visitors.
