Effingham Village Recreation Trust (EVRT) is applying for a major funding application to SCC and the GBC planning permission. Their plans are on the KGV website at www.effinghamkgv.co.uk/putting-the-kgv-at-the-heart-of-our-community/
They are in need of wide support from the community. You can help them now by participating in their survey. Details and links to the survey are available on their website at www.effinghamkgv.co.uk/putting-the-kgv-at-the-heart-of-our-community/
It’s been great to see all the hard work put into identifying the needs of the local community. Some great ideas so fingers crossed the funding materialises. It is important that the tranquillity of at least part of the space is preserved for dog local walkers and nature lovers, and I think the plans address that. I think care will need to be taken though to ensure kids don’t identify the new formal paths as possible bike routes, that the much larger number of additional users continue to respect the space, and that the probability of increased litter issues is addressed at the outset (I already find myself picking up litter either discarded by kids, or blown out / dragged out by foxes etc. from the bins every day).
Thank you, Laurel. All excellent points, which we will take on board as the process moves forward. WE hope that by making these changes we can ‘rebalance’ usage so that everyone gets to enjoy the KGV in a way that is suitable for them. It will be great to use the woodland areas more effectively and to create tranquil spaces within the 36 acres. Thanks again for taking the time to complete the survey. We hope as many residents as possible will participate and help us to shape the plans.
