Two-way traffic lights will be installed in Effingham Common Road for 3 months from Monday 14 March to allow UK Power Networks to install underground electricity cables from the substation near Orestan Lane towards Horsley Road. The work is due to start on Monday 14 March. Depending on ground conditions and progress, the initial work is planned to be completed in Effingham Common Road by 24 June 2022.
The project involves excavating short trenches to the the pipework (ducts), and pulling through new underground cables. This enables the excavations to be kept as small as possible. They will return to open excavations at intervals along the route to pull the new cables, and join them to the electricity network. There will be no impact to the electricity supply along the route.
