As from 4 December 2017, Surrey County Council is changing the opening times of Community Recycling Centres (CRCs). The main changes effecting Effingham residents are:
- Dorking CRC will be only open Friday to Sunday, and closed Monday to Thursday
- Leatherhead CRC will only open Saturday to Thursday, and closed on Friday
- Guildford CRC will only open Thursday to Monday, and closed Tuesday to Wednesday
- Non household rubbish (e.g. rubble), will be charged by the bag or car load
- Restrictions on vans, trailers and pickups
