In 2021 the community of St Lawrence Church, Effingham and All Saints Church, Little Bookham constructed a community garden on waste land on The Street in Effingham owned by Surrey County Council Highways with their permission.
Following discussions with the church community, The Gentlemans Club and the Parish Council about developing the garden into a Barnes Wallis Memorial Garden to help remember our famous resident, EFFRA has submitted an application to Surrey County Council’s YFS Small Community Projects Fund 2025-26 for a grant of £5,000 for the project. Surrey County Council and Highways also need to give permission for the proposed project.
If permission is obtained and EFFRA is successful in its application we will be consulting with the village about plans for the proposed garden.
